The Love of my grandfather

Updated: Aug 3, 2020

There was a man who grew up in south on the farmlands. He experienced his first life changing event as an infant before his first birthday. His father fell asleep and he crawled off the bed, fell and sustained a spinal injury. From that moment on, the left side of his body, hand, and leg would be never develop normally.

Despite these physical challenges, he became a Department of Agriculture Inspector and raised three children on the island of Kauai. He became a grandfather. Holidays, birthdays, and special occasions were spent at his house and all his grandchildren gathered to play games designed to perpetuate the family’s history. He lived life believing that his grandchildren could be the best they could be. His love for his family was rooted in a belief that went beyond mere duty, a true love that sparked and motivated his family to develop their potential and give back through service.

The power of believing in someone can overcome great difficulty. This person was my grandfather, his life of love and believing in others is something I hope to follow. I dedicate Leap of Faith Counseling to my loving grandpa, John “Jack” Blalock.
